After his appointment as a Senator, Renzo Piano spoke to the press about important matters concerning the future of Italy: green economy and urban suburbs. The famous architect said that there is no better country than Italy to achieve a policy of “ecological economy” which is energy production and valorization of natural wonders that crowd “Il Bel Paese”.
We must focus on these talents to remark our strong points, to give the economy a refresh and to create new jobs for young people. It is necessary to continue without following dusty solutions and urban policies that instead of recovering architectural beauties or historical sides of cities drive to the growth of new suburbs that each day consumes territory and resources. Environmental and cultural commons are the treasure of our country and give us a peculiar history that we have to respect. As Mr. Piano said we are indeed “dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants” .
